At the beginning of this year, the Home Valley team were thrilled yet again to receive the call to notify us that we had won the award for their Castle Gardens in Pontefract. Once we were notified that we had won the contract it was all hands on deck to mobilise teams and prepare them for the task ahead.
Once the teams were prepared, we headed on to site at the start of March after a short delay due to some horrific British winter weather at the end of February, a challenge that us as a company and bricklayers across the nation have to deal with year in year out. After the short delay the lads rose to the challenge getting straight on with preparing the areas and beginning works on the foundations. The foundations are key to any build going correctly and the site teams provided some excellent quality of work getting ready for some of our teams to move on to the next stage.
Over the few months that we have worked on the site, it has changed tremendously. We now have numerous plots that have been completed from a masonry perspective and has now been handed over to other contractors for the fit out of the internals. We are continuing to build superstructures on one area of the site which we are seeing good progress on, whilst we have set our teams up on another area of the site focusing on building foundations to increase the amount of plots available on this site.
Castle Gardens has been an excellent project for us so far. I look forward to seeing the site progress further towards the end goal of seeing families move in, this is always what keeps us going through challenges. As I always say, the work we do across the region is not possible without the hard graft from our lads, so I’d like to put my thanks on record again for working hard through any challenge that is thrown at them.
